I visited this spot twice during my trip to D.C., and both times were a great experience. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the customer service was excellent. The food was flavorful and satisfying. On my first visit, I tried their popular plant-based chicken sandwich. It was good, though I felt it could use a bit more seasoning. On my second visit, I went with the plant-based bacon burger—and that one was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it! Everything on the menu is 100% plant-based, which makes it a fantastic option for anyone looking for great vegan food without compromising on taste. Overall, a great place with solid plant-based options. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in D.C. Read less

Stopped by twice recently, and both times featured really delicious vegan food. Only drawback is how slow the service was - the workers were obviously overwhelmed with online orders, lots of people standing around waiting, had to wait about 20 minutes for my food after ordering. Worth it tho if you have time to wait a bit! Read less

i went to the eatery and the service was absolutely horrible the woman behind the counter was so rude and she directed me to order at the screens when she was literally standing behind the counter but then when other customers came in she had no problem taking their order. then when i sat down to eat my food while i wait for my food she yells how there’s no outside food allowed which i understand but i also was waiting for the food that i had just ordered. then the restaurant was two hours away from closing time but she was trying to mop which lead to my food, which was bagged and ready being left at the counter for so long. then when she handed me and my friend the food she treated it almost like it was an inconvenience to her. the fries were okay, the ketchup was not in packets but squirted into cups which was weird and the sauce costs extra. it was also dirty and the tables were sticky and wobbly. We often stopped by when we’re in dc. It was once our go-to for delicious well-made vegan fast food. The milkshakes remain outstanding, but the last two visits the chikn spends far too long in the fryer making it really hard on the outside (it almost felt like it was a refried leftover). Additionally, during our most recent visit in mid July 2025, the tables weren’t wiped down so I pulled out some wipes. The table felt “rough” after a pass or two and that’s when I realized just how gross they were. I literally scraped LAYERS of eww off the top. These tables need a serious scrub with hot soapy water and a hard bristled brush (maybe even require refinishing). We made sure to spread napkins over the tables upon which to place our food. I’m glad hip city veg has been successful in this convenient location, but I don’t see us frequenting it again. It’s a pricey treat (3 sandwiches, 1 fries, 2 shakes and a fountain drink…kale lemonade was fabulous…was $64). No matter where I frequent or what I pay, I expect properly cooked food and clean tables. unfortunately hip city isn’t delivering either 🥲 Read less

The server with silver hair was great at helping to recommend popular items to me. I ordered four items, the Ziggy burger, the fries, a kale lemonade, and the chick'n nuggets. I most enjoyed the ziggy burger. It had good flavors and best mimicked a beef burger. The kale lemonade was a good thirst quencher I wouldn't order the fries or nuggets again. The fries weren't fresh, but we're sitting under a heat lamp until my burger was ready. The nuggets had texture, but no flavor. I ordered but didn't receive the Sriracha aioli. I tried the hip city sauce and the BBQ sauce. These two sauces weren't memorable, but I enjoyed the ziggy burger sauce. I'd like to try the Philly cheese steak. It seems the sandwiches and drinks are worth coming back for. Read less
