Absolutely incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked into Sitar of India, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. The service was exceptional—Singh was just as amazing as the food itself, attentive and gracious throughout the evening. We started with the Chicken Tikka appetizer and a bowl of lentil soup, both bursting with flavor and setting the tone for an unforgettable meal. For our main course, we shared the Aloo Matar, Chicken Tikka Masala, naan bread, and perfectly cooked basmati rice—every bite was a delicious celebration of authentic Indian cuisine. We ended our meal with a Mango Lassi, which was beyond amazing—so refreshing, smooth, and the perfect finish to a rich and flavorful dinner. Highly recommend this gem in Charleston for anyone craving top-notch Indian food with outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back if we happen to be in the area. Read less

I rarely leave bad reviews, but my experience at Sitar of India was absolutely unacceptable. The staff were not only unprofessional but downright rude and arrogant. One of them had a filthy mouth, which made the whole atmosphere uncomfortable and disrespectful. As for the food – it was a complete letdown. I specifically asked for a mild spice level, but what I received was way beyond tolerable. It was as if they ignored the request entirely. On top of that, the quality of the food was poor – greasy, bland, and definitely not fresh. It felt like a rushed, careless effort. For the prices they charge, you’d expect decent service and food, but neither was delivered. This place is not worth your money, your time, or your appetite. I won’t be returning and would not recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable Indian meal. Read less

To be honest, I wouldn’t go there again. Even though they are from my community back in India, they didn’t seem welcoming or courteous enough when you go to that place. Especially the wife. Who didn’t have any smile on her face if you ask her a question she was kind of very bland and it seemed like an Indian walking into their restaurant was not typically what they expect. I asked for fresh hot naans and her reply was all of these are fresh as I was having the buffet. Food was OK. I had to just make a quick stop for 10 minutes before heading towards the airport and I only went there because it had buffet. Not something I would go as planned. I’m sure there are tons of other very good at any Indian restaurants in that area. So yeah, definitely go there if you don’t expect to have a welcoming environment. Read less

Terrific dining experience. Flavorful food with great customer service. Ordered the lamb Rogan Josh, and the lamb chili as spicy as they could make it. My wife had the Lamb Rogan Josh and said it was extremely flavorful, every bite was thoroughly delicious. I had the Lamb Chili and requested they make it as spicy as possible. I’m a fan of insanely spicy food and Sitar of India made the lamb chili very spicy. Unlike some incredibly spicy foods, the lamb chili still packed lots of very pronounced non-spicy enjoyable flavors every bite before the spiciness punched every time. Highly recommend Sitar of India if you have even the slightest appreciation for the flavors of India, more so if you like such flavors; Sitar of India is my new favorite Indian restaurant.
