Had a late lunch at Teaism Penn Quarter during cherry blossom season, and it was such a nice find! The food was way better than I expected – really flavorful and well-prepared. The staff were super friendly and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, which has a great variety of Japanese-inspired dishes. The salmon cake sandwich was a highlight – the bread was warm and perfectly toasted, which made it feel fresh and comforting. I also recommend trying the Okonomiyaki – a savory Japanese pancake with a tasty mix of ingredients – and the udon noodle, which comes loaded with toppings. Their tea selection is impressive too – having a hot cup after walking around DC was just what I needed. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of their dishes! Read less

I had the spicy glass noodles and tofu here and it was just ok. The tofu was much too firm for my tastes and was also a little on the dry side. The rest of the dish was good but not great. The restraint was also quite busy with some people leaving before ordering because there was no open seating on the first floor. There was more seating on a second downstairs area but I wouldn’t want to haul my tray of food down a flight of stairs. Read less

We discovered this restaurant after a long cold, day of touring museums. It really hit the spot! The jasmine green tea was delicious and soothing. I loved the udon soup with chicken. My friend really enjoyed the curry chicken which included a big kabob of grilled veg on top. We finished it off with cookies. They hit the spot! Yum! Read less

We dined at this Asian-inspired casual tearoom/restaurant some time ago and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Their "weekends only" French Toast was a highlight, with the right sweetness and perfect texture from the toast to the stewed apple and cranberry mixture on the side. The restaurant was well-maintained and offered ample seating. All the breakfast items we ordered were freshly cooked and tasty, and the tea was delightful. We highly recommend this place for breakfast or afternoon tea, and we plan to return to try out their other food options. Read less

The atmosphere was great and I somewhat liked the view. I liked the row of stools looking out the window since it was perfect for dinning alone. The vibes of the restaurant were also rather cozy with its dimmer lighting. However, one thing threw me off. I was and still am confused by the inspiration for the menu. I understand it is supposed to be healthy Asian-inspired meals, but the shrimp udon was completely different than I expected. In the udon, they added baby tomatoes, cilantro and thin-sliced, dry mushroom? I was taken by surprise but not in a good way. I hope there would be more clarity as in what’s in the dish. Read less
