A chill, deeper than the void, grips my soul as I recall the maledictory transaction. At the fifth bell of the evening's decrepit quarter(5:45), I dared to summon sustenance through the unholy rites of "Uber Eats," promised by the spectral app to arrive by the six. But the hour passed, swallowed by an unseen maw. At half past the six, desperation gnawed, and I pierced the veil with a desperate call, only to hear the maddening whisper that the "driver had just departed." Now, the seventh bell tolls, and the promised nourishment remains but a phantom, lost in the cyclopean geometry of the city. My spirit withers, consumed not by hunger, but by a cosmic despair, a gnawing realization of the universe's indifferent, unfathomable cruelty. This is no mere delay; this is the prelude to madness. Edit: food eventually arrived at 7:05 Read less

Let me say that I absolutely love Indian food, North Indian especially. Well, well, well where do I start. This review is basically based on atmosphere as I did not eat anything in this restaurant. When I walked in a strong odor hit me and immediately I noticed the carpet was old, dingy and maybe not clean. OK, my food is not going to be served on the carpet and a lot of DC restaurants are very old. There was another customer ahead of me at the counter ordering and I waited my turn. I looked around to pick a table l would like to sit as we were the only two customer's. I look to the table on my right and OMG there's a big A roach right on top of the table cloth. I almost did a Matrix backing up. My turn comes and I let the young man behind the counter know I would like to dine in. I also mentioned the big A roach I had just seen. He said he would handle it. I pick a table closer to the entrance . I had one bottled beer, did not want to use their glasses. On the way to the bathroom there are these blue laundry style bags and just trashed. What I saw of the kitchen was not good. Two clear plastic containers with I don't know what inside on the counter. Yeah! I was done. The two stars is for the bathroom that was not terrible but had cobwebs with large insects in them. Paid for my beer and I was gone. The big A roach was still on the table on my way out. Yes DC has old buildings, but , I have been to many restaurants big and small and had a very pleasant experience. I just did not feel confident or comfortable enough to eat here. That's just me. We went for an evening chai. Which isn’t in their menu but it was amazing and reminded of the back home taste.

I went to the restaurant around 5:30pm on. Tuesday. There was one couple in the entire place. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala. Takeout. I tipped $3, as the young man that took my order was pleasant and efficient. I get all the way home(Navy Yard)and what did I get for $19.95? Big chunks of dry chicken in sauce and some rice. The order ticket was still attached to my bag. It said EXACTLY what I ordered. I don’t how they could get it wrong. I had a long day , and was too tired to go back to the restaurant. It’s just not worth it. I did call and they apologized and offered a full refund. For now I think I’ll keep going to the frozen food section in LIDL and get the Paneer Tikka Masala for $3.79. It’s better than what I received from the restaurant . And exactly what I wanted. I can say that the rice was good. I really hope things improve. I’ll try Aatish again in a few months. Read less
