I'd been wanting to try True Food Kitchen for quite some time, and it lived up to my expectations and then some! The food was inspired, delicious and healthy. Had to try the burger along with some of the healthier options, and it was the best burger I've had in some time! The atmosphere and décor is top notch. Definitely feels like healthy positive vibes when you walk in. Our server Sera was absolutely phenomenal! She took great care of us, helping us move tables from the patio when the wind and rain started, and was genuinely kind and personable. Will definitely be coming back! Read less

So the food and beverage was refreshing and delicious! I have been coming since they opened years ago and randomly got a taste for the edamame dumplings. We went all out and had a 4 course meal for lunch and we will be doing it again soon! we are in the restaurant /wine industry ourselves and we both captivated and blown away by the service and hospitality! Our server Sera was so spectacular for our lunch date, she made it perfect in every way possible. we started outside but there was a random rain storm and Sera was a ray of sunshine giving the best experience i have ever had there! i would come back just for her! Nowthe other wait staff was warm and friendly too Sera has a special talent for what she does! Thank you Sera keep being the amazing star you are ! Read less

Really needs more staff. Sat at the bar for 20 min, couldn’t even place an order. Gave up and ordered to go.

Unfortunately it seems True Food Kitchen has reached its peak and is on its way down. I’ve eaten there many times around the US. The last two experiences I have had there have been terrible. However one of them was in another state so I’ll stick to Kansas City. We made a reservation and were sat outside. Seems like they give a full section to their servers inside then have them pick up a table outside as well. Both tables to either side of us had different servers and we must have gotten the short straw because just getting drinks took at least 20 minutes while the other tables seemed to get everything within a reasonable timeframe. We ordered an appetizer that took over 45 minutes to get. Around the 40 minute mark I found the manager and asked what was up. He said they had several big groups come in around the same time as us and the kitchen was taking about an hour. Having worked in restaurants the better part of my life, I can empathize, however, was confused since the tables on either side of us were being served. Unfortunately our server never mentioned the kitchen being backed up to us. Perhaps she was busy on her phone which I witnessed when I went to find the manager (not just annoying but also a hygiene issue since phones are quite filthy). She went ahead and left us with watered down drinks and as a bonus the condensation, since it was so humid outside, was continuously running down the uneven table onto my husband and son’s clothing. We finally got our food, ate it fast and got out of there. The positive thing I will mention is the manager was very nice, professional, and apologetic. He didn’t challenge me. Just apologized and also took care of the bill. That was what saved the trip and encouraged us to tip at least something. Read less

True Food Kitchen used to be a decent spot, but lately it feels like it’s going downhill—especially when it comes to service. The food is usually just okay, nothing to rave about, but still acceptable for a casual dinner. However, the service has seriously declined. Tonight we came as a party of three for dinner. The restaurant was half empty, yet we weren’t even seated because the staff said they needed to “catch up” at the bar. For real? It’s not that hard to seat guests, offer some water, and let them know about the wait. Instead, they just turned us away without much explanation. Expected wait 25 mins, for real, outside is 95 degrees! While we stood there, confused, they lost at least three other parties—around 14 people total. It’s frustrating when basic hospitality is missing. Might be a while before we come back, if at all. Read less
