Corner Beet, while reliably delicious & 99% filled with wonderful and sweet people on both sides of the counter is putting the public on notice that It is Not Interested in Allies. Extremely hostile and aggressive waitress (who l'd just admired at the register for seeming so at ease in her world) approached our table, accusing, angry, grabbing our things, and assuming we were evil and up to no good without pausing for a single moment to imagine we were agreeing with her and trying to help ease her stress in any way we could...could not even hear us saying we had gotten prior permission to use the Sample Tarot card deck and would even be happy to pay for it. She was too busy insisting on making us the bad guys she wanted us to be in her head. Her manner was inexcusable, though we stayed kind. It was frustrating to be profiled and summarily excused, which we were, as she muttered words like privilege & entitlement and stormed off. We returned the cards immediately, recovered our otherwise awesome morning, only to be interrupted again by a manager--obviously well frothed up with narrative-- came over to double down (NOT apologize & offer a round of free matchas on the house to what were once regulars, but..) Anyway, it's a hard world when we can't even recognize friends and spit in their food. We left because "you know pride' and 'vibe"' ...whatever that meant (plans to attend parade later that aftn). We were there to love on you, and support you, and you got more enjoyment out of shitting in our punchbowl, I guess. But, whatever you need! PS Would've bought the cards, and was scouting for wedding caterer, so glad we really got to know where we stand on #NotThisCorner best of luck with all of your preferred clientele PSS It is an invasion of privacy to insist you have any right to information on our phones, and demanding all records be deleted just shows how nervous you were about being in the wrong. So many other reactions would’ve made it better, not worse—including not approaching us again at all. #EatingWhileStraight The whole point of is No One should be treating Anyone this way. Read less

This place desperately needs some operational help. There’s always a long line to order (even with plenty of empty tables) and only one register running. Last visit: 30 minutes to order, 40 more to get our food. The kitchen delivers (love the vegan options), but the front of house is a mess. Some staff are flustered but kind; others are straight-up rude. We’ve been snapped at more than once, and it wasn’t just us… check the other reviews. The vibe is grimy (hello, dusty light fixtures), and customer service is clearly an afterthought. Come if you have time to kill and patience to spare, the food is good. Read less

Favorite local spot in cap hill. The staff really makes this place special, they are al so kind and attentive. Food and drinks are always proper, try their fresh juice or perhaps the golden milk. Baked goods on point as well. The spot feels like a community hub. The herb apothecary connected next door is a unique spot offering many herbs and plant medicines. We looooove the corner beet and are so grateful for it in the neighborhood! Read less
