FRUITIVE, is an organic, vegan, mostly take-a-way eatery. Fruitive opened it's door in 2012, when Gregg Rozeboom "created a place where his family could come and enjoy a healthy meal." Gregg's tiny eatery projects a British library feel. On your left, library stacks fill the wall. Vegan treats are displayed across the center of the room. The order counter is ahead, on the far right. The "librarian," cashier, and hostess, Catherine, is friendly and knowledgeable. Catherine suggested the spicy Tuscan Kale Wrap, an over-sized, whole wheat tortilla that's stuffed with minced, organic vegetables. (butternut squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, quinoa, garbanzo beans, caramelized onions, basil pesto mayo, hummus, black and cayenne pepper). The wrap is lightly toasted before serving. There is a large selection of vegan drinks. My choice is freshly brewed, lemon-ginger tea. The combination is quite filling and delicious. Fruitive is a compact cafe. Inside, seating at a couple of tables, and on stools, at a narrow, bar height counter, that hugs the street and patio windows. Outside, are a half dozen, or so, wheelchair accessible tables. Washroom use requires a code. This is a unique, wonderful, vegan, gluten free eatery. If you're in DC, don't miss it. UPDATE: As my home is on the West Coast visiting DC is not a frequent event. So my first breakfast was at Fruitive. I ordered the Cinnamon Apple Waffle which contains apples, candied, finely chopped almonds, whipped coconut cream, cinnamon, and pure maple syrup. Chef Anna cooks the waffle until the edge is crisp and the center is tender. Deliciously sweet. The whipped coconut cream is a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended. Read less

The acai bowl had just enough fruit and you can taste the freshness. The smoothie was refreshing. Definitely recommend if in the area. Read less
I cannot recommend this place enough. The food is amazing, the people are incredible, and the environment is perfect.

Was in DC for a couple of days and stopped by here for brunch on my last day. The place is located in CityCenterDC which is a cute stretch of restaurants and high end shops. The place is small with some outside seating. You order your food and then grab a seat if dining in and they bring your food to you. I ordered the large sweet berry waffle, which is essentially a regular sized waffle instead of a half waffle which you can also order. I also had the Nobility juice. The juice ended up being more expensive than I thought. There is a charge for the juice and then an up charge for the size. It ended up costing me $12.95 ($9.95 + $3.00 for a medium size). The waffle was $15.95. I think that is too expensive for a drink. It’s not easy to find gluten free vegan waffles and pancakes so whenever I run across them I order them. The waffle was tasty and the strawberries and blueberries were fresh. The Nobility juice was good. It definitely had a green taste to it as I suspected. I’m not a big fan of green juice, but felt I could use less sweetness since I was eating a waffle with fruit. I would eat here again, but try a different juice and at a smaller size. Read less
Uninspiring. Juice was like something I could buy at a convenience store and the chili was boring and of minimal health value.
I love this place. This is the best, healthiest, most filling, and most affordable vegan food I can find in the city. Chef's kiss.
