I’ve been to Govinda’s a couple of times now, and while the food itself is always fresh and satisfying, the experience with the staff has consistently left a bad taste—no pun intended. On my most recent visit, I got a to-go box, and it genuinely felt like I was being monitored for a secret food experiment. The way the staff watched how much I was putting in my box was uncomfortable—if there’s a limit, just let me know! It’s a standard-sized container, not a suitcase. And when I politely asked for two extra rotis, the staff reacted as if I’d asked for a sacred relic. A simple “that’s extra” would’ve been perfectly fine, but instead, I was met with annoyed looks and poor attitude. I understand restaurants have rules and staff have their pressures, but hospitality should never be optional—especially in a place that stands for spiritual values and kindness. Read less

I am so happy to have discovered Govinda's! This vegetarian buffet is affordable and clean. Their buffet options change daily and the bread is made from scratch. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to myself and friend group. I wasn't a tofu fan until trying their tofu chicken - so good! Sometimes "healthy" food isn't very filling, however the buffet setup ensured no one left hungry. Parking is available onsite in a lot across the street. The building and walk-up to Govinda's was stunning. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a healthy meal and relaxing ambiance! Read less

As someone who respects ISCKON and their wonderful work, I am sorry to say that my experience at Govinda’s restaurant Houston was bad and lacked good quality. The food was extremely bland tasteless. It even lacked salt in some dishes. I’ve had Sattvic food at higher taste at ISCKON Bangalore , Govinda’s at multiple places , this is bland sub par food in the disguise of Sattvic food. I visited on a Saturday evening with a large group of friends and everything was great. The buffet was nicely organized. It started with fresh salad options and then on to a variety of other foods. The staff also provided fresh naan to each person as they came out of the line. Silverware and water were brought to the table. There were a couple of desert options as well. While I didn't try any of the beverages, several people with me did and enjoyed them. The dining area has a variety of tables that can be pushed together or spread out. Dining tonight looked like a lot of families/friends and groups like mine. With our group it was also very easy for us to check out individually at the counter on the way out. Read less
