I had been looking forward to visiting Succotash to experience their unique take on a European-style breakfast fused with American — especially Midwestern and Southern — influences. This place immediately caught my attention with its creative and distinctive menu offerings. Their pancakes have their own twist, the French toast is unlike any I’ve had elsewhere, and even the Hollandaise sauce for their Benedicts has a unique flavor profile. Succotash is set in a charming, vintage building that gives off a cozy, nostalgic vibe — like stepping into a beloved old diner with character. I ordered the French toast, which was absolutely outstanding, and also tried one of their omelets, which was delicious as well. There’s still so much on the menu that I’m eager to go back and try. The process here is casual: it’s first come, first serve. You order and pay at the counter first, then find an open table. There’s no reservation system, but seating moves quickly thanks to the super efficient service. The staff are exceptionally friendly, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. Parking is plentiful, which is always a bonus in the city. If you’re looking for a creative, laid-back breakfast or brunch spot in Kansas City, Succotash is definitely worth a visit! Read less

Nice atmosphere and friendly service! We ordered the Vegan Sink and Farmer’s Plate—both came out quickly and the portions were big. It was a bit busy but still easy to find a seat. Drinks (fresh OJ and iced coffee) were delicious. Prices felt a little high—about $46 before tip for two meals and drinks—and the 20% preset tip screen felt off for a counter-service spot. Overall, okay food and good drinks/atmosphere! Read less

I ordered one blueberry pancake with a side of potatoes. The pancake was the size of a frozen pizza. Which was much larger than I expected. The blueberries were small and did not overwhelm the pancake. The syrup was standard, and so was the taste. My guess is that it was not 100% maple syrup due to its thickness. The potatoes, however, had more of a distinct taste that was quite enjoyable. The establishment was quaint, and the order then find a seat system worked well. You simply received a number on a stand and then waited for your order to be delivered. Everything came out relatively fast during a busy time. Read less

Visiting from out of town but we will be back. Succotash offers a warm, accepting environment where you can find the comfort classics or you can embrace your adventurous side and try some of the unique flavor fusions they offer on their dynamic menu. I ordered their seasonal pistachio latte and the scrambled egg platter with bacon, muenster, and spinach. Not sure where they source their sourdough from but it was also very good! Read less
